Here are some questions that should be included in your "getting to
know" each other conversation. Read them over so that you can do it as
part of getting acquainted without coming across as a detective. Don't
ask them all at one date.
Remember! It's about asking, observing and listening and making mental
notes.
1. Does he have a job? How long has he been on his job?
Is it a job with a future?
2. How does he handle his money? Is he stingy?
Is he always complaining about enough to pay his
bills?
Does he splurge a lot?
3. Where does he live and with whom?
4. The wearing of heavy cologne maybe be a sign of drug use and cover
up.
5. Watch for inconsistencies in his conversations.
6. Does he use profanity?
7. How does he handle stress, or disappointments?
8. What are his spiritual beliefs?
9. How is his relationship with his mother, sisters, brother, boss,
co-workers?
10. It is okay if he doesn’t like some of your hobbies or
interest.
You don’t want him to like what you
like, just because you like it.
He should have some things he likes to do.
11. How is his personal hygiene? Fingernails clean?
12. Has he been married? Why did he divorce?
13. Find out how his last relationship ended? What happened?
14. Does he put you down when you are alone or in front of others?
15. Is he too smooth, too perfect?
16. Does he want to control, ask you a lot of questions about your
whereabouts?
17. Or is he a know it all?
18. How are his spending habits?
19. Does he have a doting mother?
20. Is he quick to put off things for tomorrow?
21. Watch for too much emphasis on how he looks,
from his clothes to his car; maybe the
sign of a perfectionist
who will expect you to be the same.
23. Do you have to defend him, stand up for him?
24. Watch for roving eyes, particularly among your friends,
or his comments about how other women
look.
25. Is he rude and over bearing to your family? Impatient?
26. Can he change a car tire, or a light bulb? Handy in any way?
