Fathers
A Bad Rap
Fathers have gotten a bad rap. Women having babies think
men are not necessary for a child, forget being the daddy. Men are just
the sperm donors. One young lady living with her parents who did
everything for her even as an adult, had a child, declared the father a
sperm donor and had no use for him in her daughter’s life
until
the parents decided diapers were too expensive, that she needed to file
for child support.
What a bummer. This
is the result of animal like
behavior. Have you ever watched a female dog in heat and all the male
dogs coming around trying to cool the fire. They spend hours. They are
relentless and she is as persistent as they are as to who will and who
won’t.
Each parent has
something to contribute to a child,
either it is coming through the DNA or interacting with one or the
other. Regardless of what is popular or being forced upon us, daddies
do have their part in a daughter’s life.
A daughter wishes
he was there to protect her from the
boys who take advantage because she has no one looking out for her.
A daughter wishes
to sit on his knee and play in his
mustache, or rub the stubs trying to grow in after a day or two old
shave.
A daughter wishes
he was there when she has a bad dream,
to assure her that he is not going to let anything happen toher.
A daughter wishes
he was there to take her on her first
date, so she would know what her suitors are suppose to do.
A daughter wishes
he was there to attend her graduation.
A daughter wishes
he was there to help her to blow out
the candles on her birthday cakes and help her cut the first slice.
A daughter wishes
he was there to hold up her first bike
without training wheels.
A daughter wishes
he knew how much she misses him and
longs to be in his life, longs to call him “daddy.”
A daughter wishes
he knew that she doesn’t hate
him because he is no longer in a relationship with mom.
A daughter wishes
he knew how different she feels
compared to the other girls and their daddy.
A daughter wishes
he knew that a “step
daddy” is not the same as “daddy.”
A daughter wishes
he knew that even though he maybe
married again, she still wants him in her life.
A daughter wishes
her father knew that God gave her to
him and even when he falls down and comes up short on his
responsibilities that she still has a father to hold on to and that God
gave her to him but when all else failed she would look to his father.
. . God. . . to provide for all of her needs.
