Personal
Dating: Are
Couples Dating
to Avoid A Marriage Commitment?
Personal dating, I
did not want to admit this but I am
slowly becoming convinced that it maybe an attempt at fulfilling a need
without commitment. Are you just dating to meet new people, to keep
from being lonely or to have a steady companion? In the last year how
many dates have you been on? How did those dates end up? Why
aren’t you still dating that person? Did you get what you set
out
to get, or were you disappointed?
You may have
discovered in your personal dating life
what I too learned, after awhile it does nothing, new face, pickup
lines the same. Personal dating is fast becoming like seeing a pair of
good looking shoes, walking into the store, and saying, “I
want
that pair in the window.” The clerk brings you the box. A
perfect
fit. You take a few steps; they feel good; you take them home. You wear
them a few times and suddenly they are not as comfortable,
don’t
feel like they did in the store.
If you purchased
them from a store that allows returns,
you’re good to go, but if not, those shoes get thrown into
the
closet to join the rest you no longer wear. If your personal dating
pursuits feel like those shoes, you will end up frustrated with these
temporary fixes. Think about it, if the intent is simply to keep
scratching an itch rather than moving through the cycle of life. The
truth is life maybe what you try to make it butthere is a beginning and
an end to everything. One can decide from life to death what role they
will play. No matter how we bail out, or try to take control of our
lives, it does not change how we end up. We will either choose to have
a partner to share our lives with, or we will never fill that need in
us to connect with that special someone, and then life will be over.
